Message from the BCLA President, Gerry Van Beek

The BC Lacrosse Association is continuing the postponement of all in-person lacrosse activities until May 1, 2020. Updates to this date are determined by government and local health authority directives and situational changes.

The COVID-19 pandemic is creating hardships for many people. We understand the frustration with the uncertainty of what will happen and when. I repeat the message that I sent last week.

It is too early for any decision on whether the box lacrosse season, or some format of the box lacrosse season, will take place. We urge all our members; from teams, associations, leagues, and directorates to take the same approach. Abandoning on the entire box lacrosse season is detrimental and will permanently damage the Lacrosse in BC.

We need our lacrosse community to be as strong and united. For the next few weeks, waiting to see what will happen will require much patience and calmness from all our members, and hopefully you, as leaders, are setting that example. We must support each other now and when we get our lives back to a new normal, and that will include the game of lacrosse.

We have nothing scheduled over spring break but this is a fluid situation and things can change at a moment’s notice.
We will re evaluate the situation on an ongoing basis and reach out to our governing bodies for any updates."

This is the LAST WEEK for kids to come and try out the sport of lacrosse, or dust off their sticks before the season starts.

Brock Middle School gymnasium: 985 Windbreak

MARCH 3RD and 5TH Drop-ins
5-6pm 6U to 8U (formerly minityke/tyke)
6-7pm 10U to 12U (novice/peewee)
7-8pm 14U to16U (bantam/midget)

Remember to bring helmet, stick, gloves, running shoes and water

Some sticks will be available if you have none.

Whether you are new to lacrosse or played it before come on out to these drop-in sessions. The lacrosse season will be upon us in no time, so use these sessions to get a bit of a head start while we wait for the snow to melt!

Location- RLC Elememtary School (5990 Todd Road in Barnhartvale)

U6 – U8 5PM-6PM
U10 – U12 6PM-7PM
U14- U16 7PM-8PM

Bring Helmet and Gloves (Hockey gear works)
Running shoes and Water
Lacrosse stick- (some sticks may be available if you have none)
